Check-in commences at 12 noon. This gives you plenty of time to settle into your room, find your bearings, and get changed before your elegant cruise begins.
We depart at around 11 AM and start your cruise by crossing the beautiful Punnamada Lake. This wonderful lake is the venue for the famous Nehru Trophy Boat Race (Vallam Kali). We take you right past the beautiful waterside pavilion that was created especially for the trophy presentation ceremony.
This exciting cultural boat race has a long history. It all started in 1952 when the huge and unique snake boats came out to welcome the first independent prime minister of India Jawaharlal Nehru, who was visiting the area. Usually, you will be treated to the spectacular sight of the colorful snake boats being taken through their paces, on the lake. They are quite unlike anything you will have seen elsewhere. These magnificent boats are 110 ft long, so they really are a sight to behold and are a great subject for the keen photographers amongst you.
Once we have navigated this area, we continue our journey by crossing the enchanting Vembanad Lake. At this stage, you will be able to enjoy panoramic views of the surrounding area.
As we travel along, lunch is served to you at a table where you can still enjoy the views. All of the food we serve is made using only the best quality ingredients and prepared for you, from scratch, by our professional chef.
Most of the ingredients used to prepare your meal are grown locally, especially the rice. Many of our guests find the paddy fields, which you can see from the boat fascinating as well as beautiful. Usually, you will be able to see the farmers working the fields. Our knowledgeable crew are happy to explain what they are doing and how the paddy fields are worked.
In the afternoon, we pause to allow you to get off and visit Chavara Bhavan. This is where the blessed Kuriakose Elias Chavara was born and spent his formative years.
Today, this ancient wooden house is a holy shrine and spiritual retreat. While visiting this unique historical site you will have the chance to learn all about this Indian Catholic saint and the interesting history of Catholicism in India. Once you are back on board and settled, we continue the journey to our beautiful mooring.
Being on the lake in the evening is a wondrous experience. As the day draws to an end, the activity on and around the lake slows and you get to experience the tranquillity of gliding along on this beautiful lake. It really is very relaxing.
At around 8 PM, delicious dinner is served to you. Chinese, Indian and continental food Available,
After enjoying a refreshing sleep onboard you will be treated to a tasty breakfast. Once again, everything is freshly prepared by our professional chef and served to you at the table.
